Screen time limits for Chrome and Windows

Most screen time on a computer happens in a browser. Lockave puts daily limits on the sites that take the time, in Chrome on any computer, and on programs on a Windows PC.

In Chrome

• Daily limits on any site: YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, games, anything with a web address.
• Downtime: times when limited sites are blocked automatically, like bedtime.
• Focus sessions: block limited sites, or the whole browser, for 25 minutes, an hour, or a time you choose.
• Safety filters (optional): block adult sites, keep search on SafeSearch and YouTube in Restricted Mode, and warn about dangerous sites. They also work in Incognito windows when allowed.

On a Windows PC (closed beta)

• Whole-machine adult-content blocking, in every browser and app.
• Daily allowances for programs, including other browsers and games, which close once their time is used up.

Limits that are hard to undo in a weak moment

Tightening a limit takes effect immediately. Loosening one (raising it, turning it off, removing a site) waits 10 minutes. If the extension is removed or the Windows app (closed beta) is tampered with, you get an alert.

Set it up

1. Create a free account at lockave.com and choose the sites to limit.
2. Add the Lockave extension to Chrome and sign in. In Chrome’s extension settings, allow it in Incognito so limits apply there too.
3. On a Windows PC, install the Lockave app (closed beta) and link the PC from your account.

Phones and tablets: Lockave’s iPhone and iPad apps manage limits and show screen time, but don’t block on those devices yet.
