How Lockave handles your data

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Lockave is a focus tool. To block distractions and enforce the limits you set, it needs to know which sites you visit on this device — so being careful with that information is the whole point. This page explains what we collect, why, and what stays private.

Who we are

Lockave ("we", "us") is a screen-time and focus app made up of a web dashboard at lockave.com and a companion Chrome extension. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@lockave.com.

What we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see your actual password). You may also add a display name and a personal goal you set during onboarding.

Your settings

The limits, focus sessions, downtime windows, and blocking preferences you configure are saved to your account so they work across your sessions.

Usage data

To enforce the limits you choose, Lockave records which websites you visit and how much time you spend on them, along with the dates you open the app. This is the core of how the product works — without it, limits and focus sessions can't function. This data is tied to your account and is used to power your own dashboard and analytics.

Accountability pairing (optional)

If you choose to link your account with an accountability partner, we store the pairing relationship and a limited set of activity events so the person you've linked with can see the information you've agreed to share. This only happens when you generate or accept a pairing code. The sharing is one-directional and only active while a pairing exists.

How the extension works

The Lockave Chrome extension checks the web address of pages you navigate to in order to decide whether to block them or count them toward a limit. Most of this happens locally in your browser. Usage totals are synced to your account so your dashboard stays up to date. The adult-content blocklist the extension uses is downloaded and matched on your own device.

Lockave does not read the content of pages, your keystrokes, passwords, or form entries. It works at the level of site addresses and time spent.

How we use your information

What we don't do

Where your data is stored

We use the following service providers to operate Lockave:

These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own security and privacy commitments.

Your choices and rights

You can access and review your data anytime through your dashboard. You can request to delete your account and associated data, or ask what information we hold about you, by emailing support@lockave.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data (such as under GDPR or CCPA); we honor those requests.

Children's privacy

Lockave is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

A feature allowing a parent or guardian to monitor another person's usage is planned but not currently available. When it launches, it will be covered by updated terms and consent requirements.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Lockave evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Lockave after changes means you accept the updated policy.
