Terms of Service

Last updated: June 29, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Lockave when you use the app. They're written to be readable, but they're still a binding agreement — please read them. By using Lockave, you agree to what's below.

1. What Lockave is

Lockave is a focus and screen-time tool. It lets you set time limits on websites, run focus sessions that block distractions, schedule downtime, and optionally filter adult content. It consists of a web dashboard and a companion browser extension that work together.

2. Beta service

Lockave is currently offered as a free beta. That means it is still in active development. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. We provide it free of charge during this period and make no guarantees about uptime, reliability, or the preservation of your data.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lockave. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

4. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Blocking is not guaranteed to be perfect

This is important. Lockave is a tool to help you stay focused — it is not a guaranteed or foolproof filter. Browser extensions can be disabled, bypassed, or turned off in private/incognito modes, and no blocklist catches everything. Sites that should be blocked may sometimes load, and the adult-content filter will not catch all explicit material.

Lockave is an aid, not a substitute for personal judgment or, where children are involved, active supervision. You should not rely on it as your only line of defense. We are not responsible for content that reaches you or anyone using your device despite the blocking features.

7. Accountability features

Lockave includes optional features that let you share certain activity with an accountability partner you choose. These features only work when both people opt in by exchanging a pairing code. You are responsible for only linking with people who have agreed to it. Do not use these features to surveil anyone without their consent.

8. Not professional advice

Lockave is a productivity tool. It does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice or treatment, and should not be used as a substitute for professional help.

9. Intellectual property

Lockave, including its name, logo, design, and software, belongs to us. These terms don't give you ownership of any part of the service. You keep ownership of the data you create; you grant us the permission needed to store and process it to operate the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lockave and its creators from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using Lockave and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service. You can request deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Lockave develops. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use Lockave after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
